Julie Petersen

I have experience in both spacecraft engineering and the medical device industry, which has given me insight into how technical skills can be applied across very different fields – from space technology to developing safe and secure medical devices.
Today, I work with software and firmware development under IVDR regulations, focusing on scalable design, cybersecurity, and acting as a bridge between technical teams, regulatory experts, and business needs. I also work in agile setups as a product owner, guiding projects that involve large data transfers and system security.

Because I’ve moved between industries, I enjoy helping students see how their competencies can be transferred and applied in different settings. I can also support students in navigating the transition from being a student to becoming a full-time professional – from understanding workplace dynamics to building confidence in new roles.

Jens Rasmussen is a Lecturer at Business Academy Copenhagen (EK), established through the merger of KEA and Cphbusiness, effective from 1 July 2025. He has more than twenty years of experience with IT systems, including databases, FileMaker solutions and web integrations. In recent years, his main focus has been on teaching and communication—helping others understand and use digital tools in a practical way.

He has held various roles like embedded developer, technical project manager, software architect, system engineer, and quality manager. Kell has extensive experience in project management, people management, and system engineering. He is certified in IPMA, PMI, PRINCE-2, and Safe 5, and is skilled in agile development, network, and security aspects, as well as programming in languages like C, C++, Python, and JavaScript.

At present I work as a Senior Principal Engineer/Director of Engineering with Alertlogic by Fortra an MDR platform providing security as a service and am the Technical Lead for a team 6-8 engineers developing core Infrastructure, where we do large scale data processing in near real time.

Career spans through various company sizes, from large companies to very small startups, and across several verticals – consumer electronics, medical/health tech, smart cities, environmental and transportation, each with its own complexities and challenges. One common component across all these is the embedded software that defines and drives the businesses.

I love hardware and software – and everything in between. Embedded systems combine the best of both worlds, and it is a joy working right in the middle. My passion lies in developing firmware (embedded software), and I have a particular focus on design, architecture and implementation. I have also had the privilege of managing projects, which has also given me another perspective – one that requires focus on the bigger picture and the business. As such, I have learned (and continuously learning) to maintain a balance between focusing the tiniest details and the long term business objectives.
