Troels Engel Mortensen

I have 6+ years of experience within the healthcare industry in larger companies, have worked mainly in Denmark with a short trip to the US. My career has been focusing on ensuring high-quality and safe medical devices to patients worldwide. From the start as regulatory affairs, with entry to market by designing according to the regulations worldwide, now as quality assurance specialists, where I support the different stakeholders around a company in the products lifecycle (from R&D, product sustaining, production support, validation, post market surveillance etc.) to create a great product that helps save lives. When you enter as an engineer coming into a quality asssurance role, your technical knowledge is of paramount importance in being able to support and understand both R&D and production technician, and being able to assess the regulations. This is my focus, interact with specialists to enhance them at their job by asking the questions that make them see the possible solution for their problem, through curiosity and problem-solving tools. Thereby creating an environment that fosters ideas both 1-to-1 and as a facilitator in larger groups for larger issues.

I have an engineering degree within organic Chemistry and medicinal chemistry and have centered my work around the Life Science Industry. Starting out doing research with small companies, beeing a project manager and Associate manager in Novo Nordisk for 10 years and now working with external collaborations between RUC and other universities, hospitals and pharma companies within Life Science and health.

For me it is important that your carrier ambitions and life ambitions match. Your carrier should be sustainable and provide joy, fun and increase the number of good people in your life as well as fulfilling your ambitions and using your potential.

I graduated from DTU in 2006.

My career has spanned both the medtech and biotech sectors, with a current focus on peptide drug discovery and the application of automation and high-throughput synthesis to accelerate drug development.

Mariana brings 20 years of experience in management consulting within the life science industry, focusing on strategy, transformation, and operations at Deloitte, Bayer, and several clients in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. She has led transformative initiatives in areas such as strategic planning, new product and service introductions, operating model improvements, customer experience & analytics, and sustainability. Mariana has a proven track record of successfully collaborating with regional and global teams across the United States, Latin America, and Europe to achieve ambitious goals.

Mariana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from the University of North Carolina and an MBA in Marketing, Analytical Consulting and Biotechnology from Kellogg School of Management.

I have 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a diverse background from international companies in Denmark and abroad. Currently, I work as a project manager at Novo Nordisk, focusing on delivering the right solutions to ensure patient safety and a good working environment. Previously, I was a process supporter in pharmaceutical production and worked at Fujifilm on instruments and manufacturing. As a health and safety representative, I am dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive workplace while ensuring high-quality medical products enhance patient lives globally.

I bring over 8 years of experience in biotechnology, with a strong focus on fermentation, data analysis, and project management. My career has been centered around process development for microbial organisms, spanning from laboratory to industrial scale. I have extensive knowledge of the process life cycle and have contributed to more than 30 biotechnology projects aimed at developing new products across the food, animal health, and human health sectors. In addition, I am passionate about digitalization and systems integration, consistently seeking innovative ways to enhance efficiency and connectivity within biotechnological processes.

I have a PhD in organic chemistry and 20+ years of experience from the pharmaceutical industry from Denmark and abroad, whereof 5 years in research and 15+ years in business development. The red thread in my career is creation of inter-company partnerships that allow co-creation of innovation for the benefit of patients. I have extensive experience in creative deal making in big pharma across the value chain from early research to commercial products, with a solid track record of deal making as well as post deal management in form of alliances and post merger integration.

Ivan Costa Abalo

I have over 8 years of experience in the healthcare industry, spanning both medical devices and pharmaceuticals. My career began in Buenos Aires, Argentina (where I’m from), working hands-on maintaining and repairing medical devices, an experience that gave me a strong technical foundation. Over time, I discovered a passion for education as I began training healthcare professionals on the proper use of these devices, which was very rewarding.

Later, I transitioned into data, stepping briefly outside the healthcare sector to join Mærsk Drilling, where I developed data quality indicators. This confirmed how much I enjoy the intersection of data and science, so I eventually returned to healthcare, joining Novo Nordisk as a Clinical Trial Data Manager and later moving to Zealand Pharma, where I’m currently based. This role allows me to combine stakeholder management with scientific thinking and data-driven project management.

I’m now focused on strengthening my leadership skills and growing into more strategic roles, ideally within data management, where I can continue bridging science, systems, and people.
